Theodosius II, 402-450. Solidus (Gold, 21 mm, 4.39 g, 6 h), Constantinopolis, 408-420. D N THEODO-SIVS P F AVG Pearl-diademed, helmeted and cuirassed bust of Theodosius II facing slightly to right, holding spear in his right hand and with a shield decorated with horseman attacking a fallen foe over his left shoulder. Rev. CONCORDI-A AVGG Є / CONOB Constantinopolis seated facing, head to right, holding scepter in her right hand and Victory on globe in her left, placing her right foot on prow; in field to left, star. Depeyrot 73/2. RIC 202. Sharply struck and lustrous. Good extremely fine.

This issue was struck shortly after Theodosius II was appointed co-ruler of his father at the age of just eight months, thereby becoming the youngest Augustus in Roman history.
